Moog Machine Controller Series 600

20 December, 2010 | Supplied by: Moog Australia Pty Ltd

The Moog Machine Controller Series 600 includes a CPU with fast processing speed, a range of digital and high-resolution analog I/Os, sensor modules and integrated temperature control as well as various fieldbus communications modules. A range of HMIs is also offered, including one directly driven by the controller or a separate PC-based HMI. All modules are programmed in the same programming environment, the Moog Application Software Suite (MASS).

Gefran ONP1-A magnetostrictive linear position sensor

20 December, 2010 | Supplied by: Panduit International Ltd

The Gefran ONP1-A contactless magnetostrictive linear position sensor consists of an alloy body containing the sensor and all electronics to produce 4-20 mA proportional to the position of a magnet along the body. The magnet can be mounted on a separate mechanical part, or on a sliding carriage that moves on tracks on the alloy body. Power supply is 24 VDC ±20%.

Leuze electronic AMS 300i laser distance measurement sensor

17 December, 2010 | Supplied by: Balluff Pty Ltd

In addition to an SSI interface and the conventional RS interfaces, the AMS 300i laser distance measurement devices from Leuze electronic provide fieldbus communication via their compact M12 connector. This includes Profinet and Profibus as well as EtherNet/IP, DeviceNET, CANopen, EtherCAT and Ethernet TCP/IO or Interbus.

Exlar GSX and GSM linear actuators

17 December, 2010 | Supplied by: Applied Automation

Exlar’s GSX and GSM linear actuators now offer Class I, Division 2 certification. Suitable for process control valve and damper applications, the linear actuators provide continuous hold on the position of the valve stem or shaft. This allows for a fast response to small command signal changes without overshoot - even when friction is present. This design results in improved loop performance and reduced process variability.

Exlar SLM and SLG rotary actuators

17 December, 2010 | Supplied by: Applied Automation

Exlar’s SLM and SLG rotary actuators are now available with Class I, Division 2 Certification, meeting application requirements for use in hazardous environments.

AMCI R11 resolvers

17 December, 2010 | Supplied by: Automated Control Pty Ltd

AMCI has announced recent mechanical advancements made to the R11 (size 11 resolvers) that increase reliability and maximise equipment uptime.

Fraba/Posital multiturn hollow-shaft SSI rotary encoder

09 December, 2010 | Supplied by: Plant Control & Automation

Fraba/Posital has extended its range of SSI rotary encoders to include a compact multiturn hollow-shaft model that has the option of local or remote reset to zero for the output code, as well as standard A/B incremental output channels - all housed in the same housing, eliminating the need for two encoders in many drive applications.

Analog distance measurement with photoelectric sensors

26 November, 2010 | Supplied by: Balluff Pty Ltd

This article discusses two powerful distance measurement photoelectric sensor technologies: triangulation and time-of-flight.

And you thought coffee was for drinking!

22 November, 2010 by Anne Ju, Cornell University

Researchers have created a versatile gripper using everyday ground coffee and a latex party balloon, bypassing traditional designs based on the human hand and fingers.

Fraba/Posital MCD heavy-duty stainless steel encoders

18 November, 2010 | Supplied by: Plant Control & Automation

The MCD heavy-duty absolute encoder from Fraba/Posital is based on the latest magnetic technology. The stainless steel housing with IP69K protection makes the encoder resistant to most chemicals and cleaning substances as well as high-pressure water jets. Combined with the sturdy ball bearings (for high shaft loads up to 300 N) this sensor is suitable for reliable measurement under extreme environmental conditions and outdoor applications.
