Fraba/Posital multiturn hollow-shaft SSI rotary encoder

Fraba/Posital has extended its range of SSI rotary encoders to include a compact multiturn hollow-shaft model that has the option of local or remote reset to zero for the output code, as well as standard A/B incremental output channels - all housed in the same housing, eliminating the need for two encoders in many drive applications.

These UL-certified encoders offer up to 16-bit resolution (65,536 steps), and up to 16,384 (14-bit) revolutions with mechanical gearing and no battery backup. The operating temperature range is from -40 to +85°C, and ingress protection is IP65 for the enclosure and IP66 for the flange.

Hollow-shaft or solid-shaft flanges are available, as well as stainless steel and explosion-proof options.

The SSI interface provides users with a flexible, simple and efficient serial interface. SSI is based on RS422 standards and is an open platform, making it popular in the automation field. The OCD II SSI has additional options like preset feature for easier installation and alignment, incremental output for extra versatility and strobe output for easy networking of up to 10 encoders to the same data line.
