Pepperl+Fuchs intrinsically safe transmitter power supplies

07 July, 2011 by

Pepperl+Fuchs has released four transmitter power supplies for intrinsically safe applications up to SIL3. The transmitter power supplies for the K- and H-Systems have each been extended to include two additional modules that are designed for intrinsically safe applications up to SIL 3 according to EN61508. The advantage of these supplies is that only a single transmitter is required to construct an intrinsically safe signal circuit for SIL 3. Previously for SIL 3 this was only possible using two separate inputs, both of which had to be monitored for redundancy reasons. Internal diagnostic functions are also signalled via a single output and red LED, and prescribed test intervals can be extended for SIL 2 applications.

Moore Industries HIM HART loop interface and monitor

28 April, 2011

The HIM HART loop interface and monitor helps to unlock the full potential of new and in-place smart HART multivariable transmitters and valves by allowing trusted smart devices to be left in place, while still taking advantage of the additional information they can provide.

Distributed I/O improves water treatment plant

03 April, 2011

In central New York State, recent upgrades at a municipal water plant have provided the means for operators to enhance their process for meeting the water quality needs of customers.

Pepperl+Fuchs intrinsically safe FieldConnex components

21 March, 2011 by

FieldConnex components for PROFIBUS PA and Foundation Fieldbus H1 that make the high-power trunk intrinsically safe are now available. DART fieldbus power supplies and DART segment protectors are suitable for hazardous area Zone 1. DART power enables long I.S. trunk cables at up to 1000 m and to connect existinhg I.S. fieldbus devices on I.S. spurs up to 120 m long, thus meeting the total segment length of 1900 m.

Balluff IO-Link analog plugs

21 March, 2011 by

In most typical industrial I/O applications, 90% of the I/O count is discrete, leaving 10% of the I/O as analog. Most engineers have cost-effective means to gather their discrete I/O, but the analog points add a level of difficulty.

Belden 0910 ASL 146 and 0910 ASL 438 AS-Interface modules

21 March, 2011 by

Belden has extended its Lumberg Automation products to include two new actuator/sensor interface (AS-Interface) modules with encapsulated PUR housing and high signal density.

Honeywell Field Device Configurator (FDC) application for MCToolkit

01 March, 2011 by

The Field Device Configurator (FDC) software application for the MCToolkit handheld configurator device allows operators to more easily configure and assess the health of HART 5, 6 and 7 instrumentation.

Turck JBBS junction bricks for AS-interface networks

14 October, 2010 by

Turck’s JBBS junction bricks for AS-interface networks are now FM approved for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D hazardous locations. JBBS junction bricks simplify the connection of multiple field devices and can be mounted directly on the machine in hazardous environments, with no enclosure required.

Signal isolators, converters and interfaces - Part 2

11 October, 2010

By using the right signal interface instruments, in the right ways, potential problems can be easily avoided, well before they boil over.

Vega Vegascan 693 universal signal conditioning instrument

23 September, 2010 by

Vegascan 693 is a universal signal conditioning instrument for level and process pressure measurements. Besides providing signal connections for up to 15 HART sensors, it enables simple set up and commissioning of the sensors from the switch room.

HMS 1 SI CANopen module for Simatic ET200S

17 September, 2010 by

HMS has extended the functionality of its 1 SI CANopen module for the Simatic ET200S I/O system with the integration of the CAN 2.0A protocol. In addition to the standard CANopen protocol, the HMS 1 SI CANopen module can also be used for transmission/ reception of any CAN 2.0A frame regardless of the overlaying CAN application protocol. The extended functionality maximises usability and flexibility of the CAN gateway. Typical applications include all kinds of machines and automation systems where CAN- or CANopen-enabled devices are used in combination with Siemens PLCs.
