Industrial device server

17 January, 2006

Moxa has introduced the NPort IA series of industrial device servers that connect serial devices to 100 Mbps copper or fibre ethernet networks. NPort IA device servers are equipped with dual fast ethernet ports (RJ45, 10/100BaseTX), allowing the device servers to be cascaded for easier deployment. When using an SC connector (100BaseFX) to connect to an ethernet network, the distance can be extended up to 40 km using singlemode fibre.

Migrating from serial to ethernet: the impact of latency

When considering the migration of a directly linked device to the world of networked devices, it is important to understand the context of the connection. This article discusses the barriers one might encounter

Digi Connect ES provides mission-critical serial-over-ethernet connectivity for applications. It consists of four, eight or 16 galvanically isolated RS-232 serial ports with a 10/100 Mbps network interface and ethernet switch (eight-, 16-port models). Common applications include providing ethernet connections from serial devices such as ventilators, EKGs, patient monitoring systems, infusion pumps and glucose meters to the central data management system.
