ABB and Saab collaborating on civil security solutions
Power and automation technology group ABB has signed a letter of intent conjointly with defence and security solutions provider Saab AB to collaborate on solutions for the civil security market and process industries.
The solutions will be designed to protect critical network infrastructure and data integrity for municipal customers such as utilities, airports and subways, as well as for process industry customers.
The companies plan to develop civil security solutions based on ABB’s IndustrialIT Extended Automation System 800xA. The ABB/Saab-designed products will use System 800xA’s information integration and visualisation capabilities to provide critical information to operators in real time, enabling them to respond quickly to potential threats.
The new developments will be available as an extension of System 800xA or as standalone products.
