Orro launches asset discovery service for OT
After recently announcing it is venturing into the operational technology space, Australian IT solutions provider Orro has announced it is offering its Digital Asset Discovery (DAD) as a managed service for OT environments. The company says the service enables organisations to gain real-time visibility of their critical assets, monitor associated risks, and ensure ongoing compliance with evolving security regulations such as the SOCI Act.
Unlike traditional asset discovery tools that require businesses to manage deployments internally, Orro’s DAD service ensures continuous visibility and risk assessment as part of an integrated cybersecurity framework. This managed approach removes complexity, turning asset discovery from a static exercise into an ongoing security and compliance function.
“Orro’s Digital Asset Discovery service is the first step in a bottom-up approach to OT security, giving our customers the visibility they need to make the best decisions for their business,” said CEO Daniel Greengarten. “By offering this as a managed service, we remove complexity and provide ongoing insights that drive proactive security and compliance for customers both now and into the future.”
“Most asset discovery solutions in OT environments have been treated as one-off deployments rather than an ongoing security function. The challenge isn’t just identifying assets — it’s ensuring they remain visible, monitored and protected in real time,” said CTO Michael van Rooyen. “Our managed approach goes beyond traditional discovery tools by continuously integrating risk intelligence, compliance tracking and proactive monitoring to help businesses stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.”
Orro’s DAD service is delivered through a portable edge data centre deployed to the customer’s site, which connects wirelessly to Orro’s security operations team. Once deployed, the system:
- identifies all OT devices within a customer’s network, including industrial control systems and IoT assets;
- continuously monitors asset risk scores, helping businesses respond to emerging threats; and
- provides compliance-ready reporting aligned with government mandates for critical infrastructure security.
Orro’s DAD service is applicable across industries such as energy and mining, where visibility into connected assets is essential for both operational efficiency and security. Orro customers already deploying the solution include a large-scale solar farm, integrating DAD with Orro’s security operations centre for end-to-end protection of renewable energy infrastructure.
