Rockwell Automation’s PowerTechED event will be held 14–15 June 2017 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre. This year’s event will feature many never-before-seen live demonstrations, providing access to global specialists, revealing insights into the future direction of products, addressing industry challenges and offering the opportunity to build new and strengthen existing networks.

According to Matthew Treeby, commercial marketing manager, Rockwell Automation, “Technology is evolving to enable new applications and business opportunities including faster information, mobility and intelligent devices. PowerTechED 2017 will focus on linking motor control to a smart manufacturing initiative and demonstrating ways that technology can be leveraged to address industry challenges.”

Featuring a combination of hands-on labs, technical information seminars and access to global and local specialists, PowerTechED will provide the unique opportunity for attendees to experience demonstrations of real-world applications. The event will appeal to people from a wide variety of industries including food and beverage, water, mining, manufacturing; heavy industries; and ports.

The two-day event will feature four streams running in parallel: Industry Standards & Compliance; Powering a Connected Enterprise with Intelligent Motor Control; Keeping People and Assets Safe; and workshops targeting common drive applications.

Attendees will have an opportunity to get hands on with intelligent motor control centres, variable speed drives, motor protection relays, integrated safety and related software such as energy monitoring and integrated condition monitoring.

According to Rosanne Sabiston, Power Control business manager, Rockwell Automation, “For the first time, PowerTechED will feature roadmap sessions for products. We are flying in specialists from around the globe to conduct these roadmap sessions and they will reveal the future directions for products and how they will continue to support smart manufacturing, compliance and evolve to meet the latest global standards.

“We encourage customers to take the opportunity to discuss local requirements directly with the Rockwell Automation global resources responsible for product development and help shape future developments.”

PowerTechED will feature a live demonstration of the latest PowerFlex 755T low harmonic regenerative drives, providing customers with the opportunity to get hands on with the drives and also discuss their specific application challenges with Andrew Gagnon, global product manager – Architecture Drives.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to be the first to hear about the latest critical insights on new market trends and product developments from international experts — Paul Nolden, global director for the MCC Business, and Steve Yao, global product manager, PowerFlex 6000 medium-voltage drives.

This year’s event will feature many never-before-seen demonstrations of equipment and software including: a live demonstration of the PowerFlex 6000 MV drive with embedded integrated condition monitoring; the small footprint achieved through premier integration of PowerFlex drives with CENTERLINE MCCs; a live demonstration of a conveyor machine with cloud-based analytics; and how FactoryTalk TeamONE can help support smart intelligent motor control assets.

PowerTechED will have a strong safety focus and will demonstrate the benefit in leveraging advances in safety to create a more productive business. Attendees will learn how to link safety to productivity and the corresponding advances in motor control technology to help achieve this.

“Rockwell Automation has made a significant investment in safety over the past few years in relation to tools that we can provide and resources such as TÜV trained professionals to help support and guide customers through their safety journey,” said Sabiston. “The means of achieving safety in motor control applications has become easier as a result of advances in technologies such as safety-over-Ethernet in drives. PowerTechED will feature live safety demonstrations to highlight these latest safety advances.”

PowerTechED is a collaborative event with Rockwell Automation Authorised Distributors, NHP Electrical Engineering and Rexel Industrial Automation. With more than 30 sessions over two days, it is the perfect forum to update your skills, knowledge and networks.
