Sitrans LR560 radar level instrument for solid materials
The Sitrans LR560 is a radar level instrument for solid materials levels in bins and silos to a depth of 100 m. It is a 2-wire plug-and-play, 78 GHz FMCW radar level transmitter for continuous monitoring of solids, with materials with εr>2.
The major advantage of a radar device using 78 GHz frequency is its ability to deliver a narrow beam of only 4°. A tight beam angle reduces the need for aiming and also means it can be installed in places previously inaccessible to other radar devices.
The lens antenna has an effective diameter of up to 60 mm at a frequency of 78 GHz. This shorter wavelength results in less deflection from the solid pile in a storage facility - especially useful when measuring materials like grain, cement and small pellets.
A radar device operating at 24 GHz would require a large horn diameter of 195 mm to achieve the same gain.
A graphical quick start wizard enables users to commission the device easily and the unit has its own touch pad for programming. It can also be programmed remotely using the Siemens Hand Programmer.
