Emerson’s Rosemount 625IR Fixed Gas Detector is designed to provide fast gas detection in all plant environments using optical absorption detection technology.

End users need fast detection of hydrocarbon gases without false alarms, so gas detectors must be able to operate in hazardous environments and all weather conditions. Emerson says the Rosemount 625IR meets these needs by using specialised, solid-state dual IR sources and dual IR receivers, which combine to provide continual cross checks and internal adjustments that maintain the factory calibration. Heaters on the optical surfaces and a range of optical protection accessories provide continual detection without unexpected downtime.

The detector is simple to install and maintain because it remains factory-calibrated for life due to its advanced drift monitoring technology and health monitoring diagnostics. A range of accessories are available to make function testing fast and easy using either test gas or a gas-free test filter, with the latter option reducing maintenance time and cost.

The product has a standard operating temperature range of -40 to +75°C, and its ingress protection levels are IP66/67 and NEMA 4X. It is rated for use in hazardous areas and is also certified for marine applications.

The detector is SIL2 rated in accordance with IEC61508, and SIL3 rated when used in a 1oo2 voting configuration. It has a five-year proof test interval, which gives end users confidence to reduce the amount of scheduled maintenance visits.
