Unlike the SolarDrive unit which is powered by a Solar panel, the R-IMP uses external power (12–24 VDC).
Range is 400 m with additional range provided by using larger antennas.
The IMP is manufactured by Pulsar in the UK but the radio card and the receiver are Bintech designed and manufactured. The radio card is designed to fit into the IMP housing with the antenna using one of the available cable glands. The receiver has 4–20 mA and serial outputs, and is available with an indicator as shown.
The IMP can be either a 3 m, 6 m or 10 metre range unit.
