MSR Electronics MSR165 shock and vibration data logger
The MSR165 shock and vibration data logger from MSR Electronics features 1600 shock measurements per second in all three axes, the capacity to store over 1 billion measured values and the ability to add additional temperature, humidity, pressure and light sensors.
Following the recent enhancement of the MSR165 memory capacity (2 million measured values by default, 1 billion measured values with a microSD card) as well as improved software for capturing and evaluating the recorded data, the data logger now has an increased working range and longer life battery. While it was previously possible to monitor shocks up to ±15 g, this has been increased to ±200 g. This extended working range is beneficial for recording applications where very large forces occur suddenly. High transient shocks can occur during transportation monitoring of delicate goods, industrial drop and impact testing and in aerospace applications. With its digital 3-axis acceleration sensor, the device can detect any unplanned events. The 3-axis acceleration sensor starts recording data either when an acceleration threshold is exceeded or at a set time. Thirty-two measured values are recorded even before the shock event takes place, in order to ensure that the history of the shock can be examined during g-force analysis.
The device has low power requirements and with its rechargeable 800 mAh lithium-polymer battery, the unit can record shock measurements for a period of up to six months by default, or longer with additional battery and charging options.
