Chlorine-resistant pH and ORP electrodes
Amalgamated Instrument Co has released pH and ORP electrodes with replaceable cartridges and a chlorine-resistant PVC housing.
Replacement of a worn-out pH or ORP electrode no longer means replacing the whole unit, but instead only the sensing element need be replaced as the references are consumed during use.
The release of the PVC housing now broadens the range of applications that can use the replaceable cartridge electrodes.
The range includes three replaceable cartridges for pH measurement and two replaceable cartridges for ORP (Redox) measurement. Each cartridge is designed for a particular application.
In the pH range, the single-junction, conical glass bulb cartridge is suitable for clean water applications up to 50 °C; the teflon-junction, round glass bulb cartridge is suited to applications up to 60 °C; and the teflon-junction, flat glass element is suited to applications with particulate matter (the surface is partially self-cleaning) up to 60 °C.
In the ORP (Redox) range, the single-junction, platinum pin is suitable for clean water applications up to 50 °C, and the teflon-junction, platinum ring is suited to applications up to 60 °C.
The replacement cartridges are easily screwed into the PVC housing. The housings are available with 5 or 10 m cables and include a temperature compensation sensor (Pt100 RTD or Pt1000 RTD). ¾″ BSP threads on each end facilitate insertion into a process stream or for use in a tank with a suitable immersion assembly.
