The 6-axis force/torque (F/T) sensors in Resense’s HEX range, which offer a sample rate of 1 kHz and 10-bit resolution, measure changes in mass in the three translational and rotational spatial directions with the help of integrated strain gauges. The analog voltage signals produced in this way are converted to forces and torques in a compact, external electronics box.
The sensor data can be visualised and recorded in real time, then exported to a control system or application as measured values. The miniaturised hollow-shaft design for cable and conductor feedthroughs are designed to make the haptic sensors easier to integrate.
With their high sample rate and resolution, they are designed to give robotic systems a keener sense of touch. Resense says that a change in mass of as little as one gram, for example when manipulating sensitive components, can now be reliably detected.
Resense was set up in April 2023 as a joint venture between WIKA and Wittenstein. The two partners each hold 50% of the shares.
