The Panametrics PT900 is the latest generation of portable clamp-on flow meters from GE. The device is equipped with the performance of its predecessor, the PT878, along with an improved, intuitive and user-friendly functionality. It is available to rent from TechRentals.
The product supports a non-invasive measurement technique through simply attaching fixtures and transducers onto the outside of a pipe, eliminating any need to stop processes or cut into pipes. This technology sends and receives ultrasonic waves between each of the transducers in order to effectively measure fluid flowing (or not flowing) within a range of pipe sizes.
The durable transducers can effectively handle most liquids, including cooling and heating water, ultrapure water, potable water, wastewater, glycol solutions (at temperatures above 0°C), refined hydrocarbons, crude oil, chemicals and beverages.
The key improvement of the device consists of the streamlined user interface app that is easily operated and programmed through an Android tablet. Other advantages include a quick-to-respond transmitter with health indicator, 8 GB of data storage, and wireless Bluetooth communication between the tablet and transmitter.
