Honeywell has announced a new partnership with Cisco Systems to deliver wireless technology to customers seeking to implement long-term, plant-wide wireless infrastructure at their industry facilities.

Tony Cosgrove, Vice President Asia Pacific for Honeywell Process Solutions, said the partnership would provide customers with greater access to the latest technology. “Honeywell is delighted to partner with Cisco Systems to offer the latest in wireless technology and networking solutions. As the move to plant-wide wireless infrastructure continues to gain momentum in Australia, customers now have greater access to industry-leading technology from two of the largest and most established wireless solutions providers in the world. Partnering with a company of Cisco’s calibre also ensures customers have access to the latest technology, as well as a comprehensive product and service offering for those in the oil and gas, refining, chemicals and power sectors.”

“The process industry’s appetite for wireless applications continues to increase at an exponential rate, with needs extending far beyond field instruments,” said Raymond Rogowski, Global Wireless Marketing Director, Honeywell Process Solutions. “With Cisco’s technology in HPS’s process control systems, new and existing customers in the oil and gas, refining, chemicals and power sectors will have the most comprehensive selection of products and services available to them when planning and implementing wireless network solutions at their facilities. Cisco’s position as a global leader in network technology also ensures that customers will always have the very latest technology at their fingertips.

“The addition of Cisco’s Access point to Honeywell’s wireless network offering continues the theme of OneWireless as a cost-effective, plant-wide wireless mesh infrastructure capable of supporting technologically advanced applications such as rotating assets, VoIP and security systems. As an industry leader, Honeywell is strategically committed to supporting the huge growth in industrial wireless applications. This access provides an additional pillar to moving the industry forward quickly.”

Honeywell has also announced that it is offering a new wireless Cisco Aironet 1522S access point with integrated ISA100.11a radio complements to extend Honeywell’s OneWireless network, providing wireless coverage for both Wi-Fi applications and ISA100.11a field instruments under a single infrastructure.
