Liquid-cooled drive
05 August, 2008The energy-efficient liquid cooling of the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 700L drive allows it to be installed in conditions where air-cooled drives simply could not operate. These include dusty environments or those where increases in climate control costs would be excessive. Applications, which can benefit from this technology include HVAC and chillers, pumping applications, oil and gas, and marine propulsion.
Loy Yang Power drives long-term success
25 July, 2008Victoria’s largest energy producer, Loy Yang Power, recently embarked on an upgrade of its four-level open-cut coal mine facility, Loy Yang Mine. The ‘in progress’ upgrade includes the redesign and progressive changeover of the mine’s existing coal transfer conveyor drive systems. With a combined length in excess of 25 km, the mine’s conveying system transfers the freshly mined coal from the mine floor to the surface.

Output filter for motor drives
08 July, 2008The Schaffner Model 510 output filters reduce voltage slew rate (dV/dt) from inverter drives for variable-speed motors. High-voltage slew rates can cause overstressing of long motor drive cables and cause insulation breakdowns in motor windings.
