Banner Engineering has introduced the PresencePlus P4 IP68-rated, sealed Omni vision sensor. Featuring a compact, durable, nickel-plated, aluminium housing, the P4 Sealed Omni vision sensor is designed to withstand washdown conditions, as well as dust and debris common in harsh-duty environments with the use of an integrated ring light or lens cover.

Compact proximity sensor

26 October, 2009 | Supplied by: Turck Australia Pty Ltd

The uprox Q10S proximity sensor is a compact 10 x 10 x 28 mm sensor that can achieve sensing distances of up to 5 mm, depending on mounting configuration.

Colour contrast sensor

26 October, 2009 | Supplied by: ifm efector pty ltd

The O5 Series contrast sensor offers a variety of contrast sensing solutions for the packaging, assembly, material handling and printing industries. Applications include printed registration marks on a roll of paper or labels; continuous form markings; printed colour bars on packages; reference marks for printing and cutting, and confirming the presence of bar codes, date codes and data matrix symbols.

Volumetric flow sensor

26 October, 2009 | Supplied by: ifm efector pty ltd

Designed for the food and machine tool industries, the SQ volumetric flow sensor from ifm is designed for low volumetric flow quantities. It has been designed for dosing of water and aqueous solutions up to 200 mL/min. Flow and temperature are measured at the same time and can be supplied as either a switched or analog output.

Compact robot

26 October, 2009 | Supplied by: ABB Australia Pty Ltd

ABB has launched its smallest ever multipurpose industrial robot, the compact and lightweight six-axis IRB 120. Available with a new compact version of the IRC5 controller, the robot weighs just 25 kg and can handle a payload of 3 kg (or 4 kg with a vertical wrist) with a reach of 580 mm.

Optical encoders

26 October, 2009 | Supplied by: Turck Australia Pty Ltd

Turck has released the Kübler F36 optical encoder series, designed completely without gears to eliminate wear and sensitivity to magnetic fields. F36 absolute encoders feature a compact size of 36 mm with a hollow shaft diameter of up to 10 mm, making them suitable for drive engineering and medical applications.

Linear servomotors

26 October, 2009 | Supplied by: Rockwell Automation Australia

The Allen-Bradley LDC-Series and LDL-Series of linear servomotors are designed to provide machine builders with precise, reliable linear motion capabilities at a cost-effective pricepoint. With no ‘wear items’, such as bearings, gears and belts, that routinely need to be maintained or replaced, theses linear motors are claimed to feature improved reliability over other linear actuation methods.

Profile scanners

26 October, 2009 | Supplied by: Bestech Australia Pty Ltd

The profile scanners of the scanControl 2700 and 2710 series from Micro-Epsilon are now also available with a measuring range of 50 mm, adding to the previous measuring ranges of 25 and 100 mm.

19 October, 2009 | Supplied by: Plant Control & Automation

Fraba/Posital, represented by PCA in Australasia, has extended the range of ethernet protocols supported in its family of absolute shaft encoders.

Suction cup for bag handling

29 September, 2009 | Supplied by: PIAB Vacuum Technologies

The BL40-5 suction cup is a silicone cup with reinforced bellows and a long, thin lip designed for pick-and-place applications, mainly in the food industry, and specifically optimised to handle difficult bags - bags that are filled with liquids or with material that is not in one piece such as heavy pet food bags, bags with frozen food or bags of rice or pasta.

High-friction suction cups

29 September, 2009 | Supplied by: PIAB Vacuum Technologies

Duraflex friction cups are designed to provide strong grip on oily and wet surfaces and they are particularly suitable for the automotive and whitegoods manufacturing industries.

3D image sensor

29 September, 2009 | Supplied by: ifm efector pty ltd

The 3D Image Sensor from ifm efector evaluates size, shape and volume in material handling applications. An integrated 64 x 48 pixel array - in which each pixel represents a time of flight measurement - defines the field of view for the sensor.

Extended range proximity sensor

29 September, 2009 | Supplied by: Turck Australia Pty Ltd

Turck has announced that the company’s Q08 uprox+ factor 1 sensor - designed to detect steel, stainless steel, copper, brass and aluminium at the same rated sensing distance - now offers an extended range of 8 mm.

Motion control development system

29 September, 2009 | Supplied by: National Instruments Aust Pty Ltd

National Instruments has announced the LabVIEW NI SoftMotion Module, which simplifies the development of advanced single- and multi-axis motion applications, and new NI C Series modules, which expand the connectivity of the NI CompactRIO programmable automation controller (PAC) platform to hundreds of servo and stepper drives.
