Lantronix has upgraded its existing compact XPort serial to ethernet device server with RS485 protocol interface feature. The standard XPort is now able to be used in RS485/RS422/RS232 interface applications, and the XPort-Modbus will be suitable for industrial Modbus use.
XPort is powered by the Lantronix DSTni network processor SoC, which includes a 10/100 Mbps ethernet interface and 256 KB of SRAM. It features a built-in web server for communications with a device via a standard internet browser. Web capability can be used for remote configuration, real-time monitoring or troubleshooting. XPort has 512 KB of on-module flash memory for web pages and software upgrades. It acts as a dedicated coprocessor that optimises network activities permitting the host microprocessor to function at maximum efficiency.
