Hirschmann BAT54-Rail Single WLAN access point

Belden has extended its range of Hirschmann products to include the BAT54-Rail Single WLAN access point. This device is designed for mounting on DIN rail and can be used both as access point and access client. Unlike its ‘big brother’ the BAT54-Rail, this access point has only one WLAN interface, making it a cost-effective alternative for applications that do not require a second interface. In common with the BAT54-Rail, however, the BAT54-Rail Single offers the full range of functions supported by the HiLCOS operating system.

The BAT54-Rail Single offers transmission rates of up to 108 Mbps in either the 2.4 or 5 GHz band. Fast roaming facilitates uninterrupted connections, even while changing from one radio cell to another. Network management can be carried out using browser-based, telnet or Windows software that supports rogue AP detection, and all standard encryption methods as well as authentication compliant with IEEE 802.1x are also available. The series is equipped as standard with integrated firewalls and IP routers, enabling network segments to be isolated and reliably safeguarded. An RJ45 LAN port (10/100 BaseTX) is available for connection to terrestrial networks.

The BAT54-Rail Single device comes in a robust aluminium housing and is designed to operate within a temperature range of -30 to +50°C. The units fulfil all requirements with regard to shock resistance, vibration resistance and electromagnetic compatibility, making them suitable, for instance, for vehicle installation. The redundant power supply possesses two 24 VDC and one 48 VDC connection supporting PoE compliant with IEEE 802.3af.
