Balluff-Leuze has launched two products - the Compactplus and AS-i Safety.

Compactplus light curtains offer added functions and a selection of pluggable interface sub-assemblies. Depending on the application, the Compactplus can be equipped with the function packages Standard, Muting, Blanking, Cyclical Control or Universal.

This eliminates the need for using external control modules. In addition, a variety of output modules, such as semiconductor outputs, relay outputs, ProfiSafe and SafetyBUSp, allow the Compactplus to be flexibly integrated into the existing infrastructure.

An IR-diagnostics interface as well as a teach-in function provide optimum user-friendliness. AS-i Safety is characterised by allowing mixed operation of standard and safety bus users on a common bus cable.

The key system advantage of AS-Interface is that individual buses can be quickly and easily installed; a single bus cable supplies power and data. Versions of the Type 4 safety light grid Robust/AS-i and the Type 4 safely light curtain Compact/AS-i are available with an integrated AS-i interface.

The 'safe' coupling module ASKM can also be used to make connections to safety interlocking devices, emergency stop switches or Type 4 safety light grids without an integrated AS-i interface. The Compactplus light curtains and AS-i Safety will be on display at Balluff-Leuze's stand in the PACEX section at National Manufacturing Week.
