Rotary joint

The MQR rotary joint is claimed to simplify the manufacture, operation and maintenance of machines using rotary action.

Suitable for manufacturers of rotary carousels, materials handling apparatus and high-speed rotating equipment, it distributes compressed air, thus enabling supply tubes to be connected for various applications on rotating devices.

Inside the aluminium body, the glandless construction has eliminated the need for dynamic soft parts. Unlike similar products on the market, the rotary joint's metal seal prevents sticking and makes the replacement of worn-out rubber seals unnecessary. SMC claims the metal construction has led to a life span of up to one billion rotations under its life test conditions.

The rotary joint features a broad speed range of up to 600 to 3000 min-1 (rpm) depending on size; a low turning torque of 0.003 to 0.2 Nm or less, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -10 to 80°C.

The products come in five sizes with an allowable radial load ranging from 1 to 50 N. Depending on size, the units can operate in pressures of -100 kPa to 1 MPa with 1, 2, 4, 8 or 12 circuits.
