Maplesoft has announced the availability of ICP (intelligent controller parameterisation) for Maple, a suite of rapid control development tools.

ICP for Maple enables easy identification of non-linear engineering systems and automatic development of the required controller structure and parameters to achieve design objectives.

Designed by German control engineers at ExpertControl GmbH, ICP for Maple constitutes a one-step solution for users who need high precision models of existing dynamic systems, particularly for control design. By simply stimulating a system with an input signal, users can capture the system output and generate continuous lap-lace transfer functions that fully characterise the system across different operating points. This is a major advance on other system identification tools that produce discrete 'z' transfer functions that are only usable at the sample frequency at which the data was captured. Given the system model, ICP then applies robust algorithms to the plant transfer function(s) to generate robust controller structures and optimal controller parameters without the need to be familiar with the underlying control theory.

ICP can be invoked from within Maple. The resulting transfer functions can be used directly in a Maple worksheet for further work, such as frequency and sensitivity analysis.

The suite of Rapid Control Development tools is designed for control, electrical, mechanical and process engineers who do modelling and/or control algorithm development for various real-world systems and components and are involved in simulation, controls, HiL (hardware-in-the-loop), ECUs (electrical control units) and test cell automation. ICP for Maple can also benefit professors teaching control, electrical and mechanical engineering.
