Pilz has released AS 4024.1 category 4 compatible mechanical safety switches that, when used with Pilz control systems, can prevent access until an area is safe. The PSENmech switches are also fast and easy to install, connecting to all common control voltages.

The solenoid version of the Pilz PSENmech switches works on the principle that entry is only allowed once an area is safe as indicated by a safety timer or safe standstill detector. This can be critical where machinery takes time to reach zero energy status. Typical control systems to match the PSENmech are the PNOZ and PNOZmulti safety relays, the Programmable Safety System (PSS) and the open bus systems, SafetyBUS p.

Safety is further enhanced by the PSENmech's mechanically coded actuators, which comply with EN 1088, the interlock standard defining protection against defeat. The switch can only be actuated by the correctly matched actuator.

Teamed with a non-contact safety switch, such as PSENcode and PSENmag and Pilz control systems, the PSENmech can form part of a diverse and redundant complete safety solution for applications rated at up to category 4 under standard AS 4024.1 and EN 954-1.

The PSENmech mechanical safety switches are as easy to install as they are safe. The compact design is paired with radius or standard actuators and accommodates up to eight actuation directions for maximum flexibility in tight spaces. Integration with the system is made simple as PSENmech's innovative connection technology accepts all common control voltages.
