Quatech has released updated Linux driver support for its range of USB to serial adapters. The new version 2.10 driver is designed to work with Linux distributions based on kernel 2.6. The driver is primarily designed for Fedora FC2 and Suse 9.1 and supports Quatech's complete range of USB to serial adapters.
The adapters are designed to seamlessly connect multiple serial peripherals via a single USB port. Adapters are available with 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 RS-232 serial ports. RS-422/485 models are also available with 2, 4, 8 or 16 ports per device. The range also includes 4- and 8-port embedded USB adapters. These small-footprint boards are designed to allow easy installation into cabinets and kiosks. Built-in surge suppression at each serial port, necessary for maximum reliability and robustness, is available for all multi-port models.
The current USB to Serial Linux driver set includes version 1.10, designed primarily for RedHat and Suse 2.4 kernel versions, and version 2.10 for 2.6 kernel versions, primarily for Fedora FC2 and Suse 9.1.
Advanced users may be able to adapt these drivers for other Linux distributions. A ReadMe file is included for each driver and provides detailed information about the source code and the systems on which the individual drivers were tested.
