Foundation level bus

SMC has widened the potential uses for bus technology with the introduction of the AS-interface module.

The AS-interface can either be operated on its own network system or is easily integrated to enable direct and cost-effective communication with either control level PLCs or field level systems, making it suitable for a range of applications.

The SMC AS-interface EX250-SAS3 unit requires very little installation time, test time and greatly reduces the time required to create wiring diagrams. The assembled unit is suitable for use with the electrically and pneumatically stackable VQC and SV ranges of valves, and is capable of accepting up to eight digital inputs while controlling eight outputs (solenoid coils).

Input modules on the EX250-SAS3 AS-interface unit are electrically stackable, enabling easy modifications to be made to the system - in fact, the network can be enlarged or reconfigured at any time, anywhere, in short time.

Input blocks are internally switchable between NPN and PNP connections and can be added or changed from M8 electrical plug connections to M12 or can be configured into a mixed arrangement.

Although higher level bus systems provide more complex operations with the capabilities of running a larger number and variety of inputs and output connections, the Actuator Sensor level node offers an easy to install, simple way of automating applications that don't require extensive or highly sophisticated systems.

The SMC AS-interface EX250-SAS3 input block, valve bank system is rated IP67 for greater environmental protection.
