Emerson Process Management's 375 Field Communicator successfully completed the Fieldbus Foundation's host interoperability support test (HIST). By its success, the product is claimed to have become the first handheld communicator on the list of HIST-tested and compliant host systems.
The 375 is an intrinsically safe handheld communicator that universally supports Foundation Fieldbus and HART devices from all suppliers. The 375 Field Communicator is also a key component of Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture. HIST results demonstrate which features defined in the Fieldbus Foundation's host feature checklist are supported by a compliant host system. This comprehensive test program ensures that a supplier's host system incorporates Foundation Fieldbus's robust functionality and that it accurately communicates with any of the hundreds of registered Foundation Fieldbus devices.
The product meets all intrinsic safety requirements (ATEX, Cenelec, FM, CSA and FISCO) and is user-upgradeable by allowing direct downloads from the internet as new Fieldbus and HART device descriptions become available.
