Central processing unit

In a decentralised architecture with remote I/Os (Profibus, CAN, Modbus), the SaiaPCD3.M5 CPUs can help give an automation solution an additional thrust of innovation.

The basic device includes a combination of USB, Ethernet, RS485, Profibus, CAN, BACnet and RS232. Additional coprocessor modules can be plugged in via the device's four CPU slots.

For use as a central controller, the device is expandable up to 1024 local SaiaPCD3 I/Os. Its industrial PLC memory ranges from 256 KB to 22 MB. In addition, SD flash modules are available as an option.

The Saia web server is available for all CPU interfaces and supports access to all PLC data. Alongside normal web browsers, access is also possible via a CGI interface or the Microsoft .Net web service directly from Windows, Linux, or Unix applications.

The file system uses an integral FTP server to create a simple, convenient connection to your usual IT environment. Process data from the SaiaPCD file system can be processed directly with such applications as a text file.

The device can be programmed with SaiaPG5 or Siemens Step7. During operation, either web browsers or Windows.Net devices can be used for control and configuration.
