World-class technology from local engineering alliance
Monday, 08 January, 2007
A product development and engineering alliance has been formed between solid/liquid separation specialists Dorr-Oliver Eimco (DOE) and Alcan Engineering Pty Limited (ALCENG), an engineering division of Alcan International.
The alliance, unique to Australia, brings together Alcan's proven paste thickener technology and Dorr-Oliver Eimco's knowledge and experience with solid/liquid separation and complements a licensing agreement, signed in the early 1990s, giving DOE exclusive rights to sell the Alcan technology to non-alumina customers.
With thickener design and operation as the primary focus, the new engineering alliance gives the two local companies the opportunity to design and supply complete processing solutions packages including upstream and downstream engineering (of the thickener), waste disposal design and management and overall project management.
The combined skills of the new alliance are already being put to the test. Pilot plant trials for coal tailings management are currently being conducted in the Hunter Valley with initial results exceeding expectations.
