BOC has officially opened its $10m operations centre in Wagga Wagga, NSW. The facility uses sophisticated technology to package ammonia and sulphur dioxide for markets around Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Production of these special industrial gases at the new plant will mean supply to national and regional customers will be more reliable and customer focused. The facility also provides infrastructure and potential production facilities to support new markets. Wagga Wagga was chosen as the location because of its easy access to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, its infrastructure and its availability of skilled staff.

The plant has some of the world's most advanced safety features including gas detection, gas extraction and scrubbing systems, automatic shutdown when storage tanks reach their safe filling level, spill containment and fire protection systems.

As part of its commitment to the region, BOC provided 10 hectares of the site (25% of the total land) to Greenfleet. This is a not-for-profit organisation which plants and maintains native trees. The trees are designed to be part of Australia's contribution to reducing the environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions.
