One in five workers experiences job insecurity
Wednesday, 18 June, 2003
A global survey of confidence among workers has shown Australians are quite insecure about their jobs, despite a strong economy.
Worldwide organisational consulting firm Right Management Consultants says one in five Australian workers believes there is a possibility they will lose their job in the next 12 months.
This is the fifth highest figure of the 17 countries surveyed.
The Career Confidence Index, commissioned by Right Management, was conducted in February this year to measure career confidence among the world's full-time workers.
The most pessimistic workforce was in the UK.
Right Management says it is not surprising the world's workers are gloomy, given recent global events.
The survey covered Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
