New president for Manufacturing Society

Sydney-based Dr John Blakemore has been appointed the new national president of the Manufacturing Society of Australia.

Blakemore serves on the federal government's research and development advisory board for manufacturing and engineering, a position he has occupied for the past five years. He has also held senior executive roles in research and manufacturing for Australian and multinational companies.

He was a board member of the Australian Institute of Management and is a graduate associate of the Australian Graduate School of Engineering Innovation. He has lectured extensively in Australia and overseas and has studied manufacturing systems in Japan, Germany, USA and France.
