Nanotechnology facility opens
Monday, 15 March, 2004
The West Australian node of the Nanostructural Analysis Network Organisation (NANO) was officially opened by the West Australian Premier Geoff Gallop on 17 December 2003. NANO is a Major National Research Facility (NANO-MNRF).
The purchase of a high-resolution scanning ion probe makes the node one of only ten facilities around the world to boast such technology and adds further strength and specialised expertise to Australia's existing first class nanotechnology R&D networks and infrastructure.
The node is housed at the University of Western Australia and enables nanometric analysis and supports research into forensics, materials science, nanotechnology and biotechnology.
