The Victorian Minister for Manufacturing and Export, Tim Holding, recently presented Richmond-based company Moonlighting Australasia with a certificate of Manufacturing Excellence from Victoria's Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
Holding said Moonlighting deserved to be hailed as a Victorian manufacturing hero because of its innovation, consistently high production standards and export achievements. "Moonlighting, which specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of high-quality lighting systems for the construction industry, has been recognised for its outstanding achievements in manufacturing," Holding said. The company's High Efficiency Traffic Light, which uses state-of-the-art LED (light emitting diode) technology, is 80% more efficient than conventional traffic lights that utilise halogen lamps and require 80% less maintenance.
Holding said the innovative product won an Award for Excellence in Energy Efficiency from the Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, which also nominated Moonlighting for Hall of Fame recognition. Moonlighting products are sold throughout Australia and are exported through distributors in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Philippines, Pakistan and New Zealand.
