Linux support from Sun
Saturday, 27 March, 2004
Sun Microsystems has signed fifteen new Linux partners and experienced increased sales in its Linux-based Sun Fire V60x and V65x, signifying an increasing move to adopt open source platforms.
Leading Australian organisations such as Telstra have been among those to deploy Sun Microsystems' Linux solutions. Telstra has deployed Sun's Linux-based Sun Fire V65x systems in its network using Check Point SecurePlatform (Linux OS).
Utilising its multi-platform open source strategy, Sun delivers an end-to-end portfolio that embraces standard Linux distributions, the N1 platform for dynamic and utility computing, and the Sun Java System — five integrated software systems for the desktop, the data centre, the developer, mobile devices and smart card identity implementations.
