Extrusion training
Tuesday, 12 September, 2006
Extrusion processing training courses are planned for later this year in Western Australia and Thailand.
The course 'Extrusion Processing of Cereal Grains' is tailored for scientists, technologists and engineers wanting to know more about the extrusion process, controlling it and how cereals behave during extrusion. It will be held in conjunction with the 56th Australian Cereal Chemistry Conference in Perth, Western Australia.
The course will run from 15 to 16 September at the Curtin University, Perth.
The program covers topics from the basics of extruders and their configuration, through to the science of extrusion and the chemical and physical changes occurring in the extruder barrel, to a basic understanding of the characteristics associated with the final product quality and how to control them. Key presenters at the course include Dennis Forte and Frank van Doore, both of whom are highly experienced in extrusion through their work with a variety of companies and extruded products. To reinforce the principles learned in the course, a practical demonstration will be conducted utilising the extruder at Curtin University.
