Environmental contract to clean air
Tuesday, 24 December, 2002
Environmental Group Ltd (EGL) has been commissioned to remove and destroy the nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions from Orica Ltd Gladstone ammonium nitrate plant in a deal worth around $1 million.
The Sydney-based EGL has partnered with CRI International, a member of the Royal Dutch/Shell group of companies, to provide systems to remove the NOx gases from each of Orica's two on-site nitric acid plants.
Shell DeNOx Systems technology, developed by CRI, converts the NOx gas, produced in the manufacture of nitric acid, to a relatively harmless mixture of nitrogen and water.
This will be EGL's second sale of this type of technology in Australia but the first to Orica and will be installed and in operation by May 2003.
