Champion Compressors has produced its 10,000th Australian designed and built air compressor.

At a ceremony held at the company's headquarters in Hallam, Melbourne, Victoria's Minister for Industry and State Development, Theo Theophanous, presented Champion Compressors with a commemorative plaque, recognising this milestone and the company's ongoing commitment to local industry.

"This 10,000th compressor milestone is a significant achievement that represents approximately $250 million in import replacement value," said Theophanous.

"Champion Compressors is setting a great example for other Victorian manufacturers and continues to demonstrate how Australian companies can leverage their unique experience of local conditions to build domestic market-share and win export sales."

Exploring the company's recipe for success, Theophanous said that Champion's accomplishments have been achieved by a commitment to quality; a strong global focus; ongoing investment in R&D and advanced manufacturing methods; and an ability to identify and capture niche opportunities.
