CBIP appoints AINDT
Wednesday, 05 October, 2005
The Certification Board for Inspection Personnel (CBIP) in New Zealand appointed the Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing (AINDT) Certification Board to provide certification services in non-destructive testing from 1 July 2005 for an initial period of three years.
AINDT will also provide the administrative services for the provision of certification in a number of other areas of inspection, including pressure equipment, welding, cranes, ropeways, coatings, elevated working platforms etc. This will require the setting up and supervision of exams in New Zealand and the subsequent assessment of applicants regarding their suitability for certification. The Certification Board Secretariat will also maintain all records of New Zealand candidates for both NDT and non-NDT certification, as it does now for NDT-certificated personnel in Australia.
The Institute has recently upgraded its quality assurance system to ISO 17024 and through this has also taken the opportunity to implement the requirements contained in the recent issue of ISO 9712:2005. Standards Australia committee MT7/4 will be meeting shortly to consider the adoption of this revised issue of ISO 9712 as Australian Standard AS 3998.
