Pricedex Software of Canada, in collaboration with Australian company Mincom, has been selected to implement a new catalogue system for the automotive and heavy machinery industry, the Parts Technical Authoring Catalogue System (P/TACS). The system has been licensed to FG Wilson of Northern Ireland, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar.

P/TACS is an integration of Mincom's LinkOne HotPoint tool and LinkOne Bookbuilder with Pricedex' PDM Builder Platform and PDXi-WebInterface.

The system will allow catalogue specialists to collaborate with engineers and product managers to ensure that all parts specifications, drawings, pricing and parts lists are properly catalogued all the way through the product life cycle.

FG Wilson customers, who are found all over the world, will benefit significantly by being able to access part information on the web as opposed to using generic service books and having to make a part enquiry at an FG Wilson dealer for their model. This technology not only enables FG Wilson's customers to have a manual specific to their production unit, it also streamlines and cuts the costs of the labour-intensive process of technical authoring.
