B-R Controls bakery

B-R Controls has been awarded a new contract for the electrical and automation systems for a new Goodman Fielder bakery line in Clayton, Vic. The contract includes the coordination of the electrical and control systems designs across the whole line, line performance monitoring, control of interfaces between equipment, safeguarding and electrical power distribution.

Goodman Fielder is installing a new fast breadline at its bakery in Clayton, Victoria. The line is installed as a result of increasing demand of the company's staple products and to reduce manufacturing cost. The line consists of equipment of various vendors who supply mixers, provers, the oven, cooler, conveyors, slicers, baggers and automated packaging equipment.

B-R Controls was awarded the contract to coordinate and implement the control and electrical systems for the line. The company generated electrical and control system specifications in order to ensure a consistent design across the whole line. All process equipment will standardise on Rockwell Automation control equipment, mainly ControLogix PLCs and the PanelView Plus range of operator interface terminals. B-R Controls ensures that all vendors who supply equipment for the line adhere to the PLC programming standards that are set out in the specifications and that the PanelView Plus operator display panels function in a consistent manner across the line. B-R Controls is designing and implementing a line yield monitoring system that monitors the OEE (overall equipment efficiency) of the entire line and the performance of the equipment that makes up the line. The system will monitor throughput, quality and down time for each bread production run.
