The first composite two material injection moulded aerosol actuator in the world has won the Award for 'Application of Technology' at the 2003 Aerosol Industry Awards in Sydney on May 21.

The award was presented to Precision Valve Australia for its 'Dalmation' aerosol actuator which is featured on the Rexona range of aerosols.

The actuator uses polypropylene and TPE (thermal plastic elastomer) to deliver a sophisticated 'soft touch' feel on the finger pad and limitless potential for colour coding.

A specially built injection moulding machine injects the two separate materials simultaneously and features automatic assembly of the actuator insert and automated checking.

Lindsay Showyin, President of the Aerosol Association of Australia, said Precision Valve Australia, with its 'Dalmation' aerosol actuator, should be congratulated on its commitment to products with advanced technology.
