Australian industry awarded

Iluka Resources, Shedden Uhde, Leighton Contractors and Yella Terra have won ICN Victoria's Industry Achievement Awards for 2006.
This year, 18 companies were recognised for their contribution to the local economy and were awarded certificates of recognition in four categories by The Hon André Haermeyer, Minister for Manufacturing and Export, MP at the award ceremony held in Melbourne on 15 November 2006.
The local sourcing, export and import replacement achievements of the companies nominated for the Industry Achievement Awards has contributed to over $200 million worth of contract wins for Victorian and Australian industry over the last year.
ICN executive director Peter Yates said, "Victoria and Australia are the winners with our local industry successfully replacing imports and exporting. These awards recognise companies that are prepared to give local businesses a fair go - let's not export our jobs".
Funded by the Victorian government, ICN works to ensure local industry participation in major projects and identify competitive Australian industry capability.
ICN has been in operation for 22 years achieving a cumulative total of $1.55 billion worth of business to Victorian industry that would have otherwise gone overseas.
