Now entering its seventh year, AUSEN (Australian Engineering Network) welcomes new chairman, Dino Alessio, marketing manager of Australian compressed air specialist, Champion Compressors.

Alessio is keen to promote the advantages of active participation in AUSEN, an organisation mandated to increasing local procurement by Australian and overseas oil and gas engineering contractors and consultants.

Established by the Victorian government, AUSEN currently has 32 Australian member companies, representing a broad spectrum of oil and gas industry specialists. Under AUSEN auspices, these equipment and service providers come together quarterly to share information, while forging enhanced links with government departments and key oil and gas industry stakeholders. In this interactive environment, AUSEN members can openly discuss current and potential project activity, and trends in the oil and gas sector.

According to Alessio, AUSEN membership affords business opportunities that can be unseen and unreachable as an individual enterprise.

"AUSEN has nurtured a close relationship with key government departments and initiatives, in particular the state governments' Industry Capability Networks (ICN) - a first-port-of-call for purchasers, specifiers and procurers of equipment and services," Alessio said.

"Through our ties with government industry departments, AUSEN members are able to obtain assistance with R&D funding, achieve representation with overseas trade delegations and secure government backing to participate in international exhibitions.

Alessio intends to continue the work of last year's chairman, Gary Sandler, managing director of Australian Fluid Handling.

"AUSEN will be looking to increase its membership, further raise its local and international profile, and generate greater business prospects for Australian companies," Alessio said.

AUSEN is self funded and membership is open to all relevant companies within the oil, gas and energy sectors of industry. Membership benefits include access to all AUSEN functions and resources, along with a listing and capability summary on the AUSEN website.
