APV in China

Thursday, 30 November, 2006

APV, part of the Invensys Group, has announced the completion of its US$5m purpose-built manufacturing plant in Xidu, Shanghai. The factory will manufacture and assemble pumps, valves and other fabricated products for the Chinese market.

The company has been supplying locally assembled plate heat exchangers from its Shunyi factory since 1997. The factory will house production, design, engineering, sales and service offices and the new business will provide complete end-to-end components and engineering solutions to the dairy, beverage, brewery and other selected industries.

Chris Shelley, APV Global vice president Business Development, commented: "We know Asia-Pacific, and in particular China, is the fastest growing economy in the world and by having this new production unit in China, we will give our local customers faster access to our products and services. Our China operation already has established in-house design and project engineers and managers addressing the needs of the local market. APV has grown the Asia-Pacific business from less than 15% to 25% of group sales over the past two years, yet has less than 5% of manufacturing resources in the region. This is a logical step for APV to provide our customers in China and Asia-Pacific customers with world-class components, technology and solutions produced, engineered and executed locally."
