Alliance for Emerson and Qatargas
Tuesday, 13 March, 2007
A long-term alliance between Emerson Process Management and oil, gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) provider Qatargas was announced yesterday.
The alliance is intended to improve and sustain operational excellence for Qatargas, based on the strength of a previous collaboration to automate six multi-billion dollar world-class facilities in Ras Laffan over the past four years.
As automation supplier on existing and future Qatargas projects, Emerson will engineer, project manage, install, commission and provide long-term support on automation solutions for the oil, gas and petrochemical facilities in Qatar.
In addition, Emerson will install its PlantWeb digital plant architecture with foundation fieldbus communications, integrate third-party equipment and provide information technology services.
"Qatargas pioneered the LNG business in Qatar, which is now home to the world's largest processing facilities," chief operating officer — operations at Qatargas, Jacques Azibert said.
"Emerson has proven its performance in our collaboration over a number of enormous projects, and we formed this new alliance to secure our future success through best in class automation."
