Sedas data acquisition system

Sedas is a data capture and analysis system that can either be delivered with set functionality, or as a system that can be fully configured by the end user.

Sedas functions by acquiring operational and performance data from an asset and allows the end user to display and analyse the data on demand. Data analysis tools can help predict failures in assets before they occur, saving money and downtime. They can also provide trend graphs and reports to assist in the planning of scheduled and preventive maintenance activities. Sedas also includes a real-time display function available over the internet to any PC anywhere in the world.

GPS-based asset tracking is another key component of Sedas. An asset can be located and its movements tracked and recorded in real time. A geo-fencing facility can also be provided.

All acquired data is secured by key-based encryption, with the key being selected by the end user. This ensures confidentiality, data integrity and prevents tampering with the original data. The data is simultaneously stored in redundant data stores comprised of a hard disk drive and a robust Compact Flash (CF) card that is easily removed when required.

Sedas is provided standard with 80-128 input monitoring point availability, expandable up 1024 inputs. Data points, including the GPS fix, have the ability to be monitored every second and stored to memory, on hard disk, and to allow for dual redundancy, on a compact flash (CF) card.

All data is encrypted and compressed to maximise storage space. The encryption is key-based and allows for the user to enter their own ‘pass-phrase’ or ‘key’, adding to the security of the data. Compression also dramatically reduces the time taken to transfer data over wireless interfaces such as a WLAN or satellite modem to the data centre.
