Safety light curtain

With a 15 mm by 20 mm housing profile, the Allen-Bradley Guardmaster GuardShield Micro 400 light curtain is claimed to be the smallest Type 4 safety light curtain on the market. Available in standard or cascadeable configurations, the light curtain is an economical presence-sensing safety device, suitable for a wide variety of space-constrained industrial applications with hazardous machinery.

The light curtain is particularly suited to applications involving small assembly machines, or in industries such as pharmaceuticals - where the scale is smaller and many light curtains are too bulky.

In addition to a slim profile, the product features expanded functionality via the MSR42 controller. The MSR42 controller is also a multi-function safety module with hard-wired or software-configurable operating modes and solid-state safety outputs.

Accepting additional inputs such as E-stops or other machine safety devices, the MSR42 controller also features advanced diagnostic capability by facilitating an optical diagnostic and configuration interface tool. This allows the user to configure the controller for different applications and to quickly check the status of inputs and outputs for diagnostic purposes.

The cascade feature enables multiple light curtain segments to be connected together on a single cable, configured to a single controller, significantly reducing the amount of cabling.

The light curtain comes in 14 and 30 mm resolution in both the regular and cascadeable configurations, for finger or hand detection respectively. Both resolutions are available in heights from 150-1200 mm.
