Touch screen HMI

Omron Electronics has announced NS15 HMI. Measuring 15" diagonally across its colour touch screen, the NS15 offers a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, which is the equivalent of an XGA computer monitor. The unit itself is silver in colour and measures 405 x 304 mm.

Being the latest in the NS series, the NS15 also comes preloaded with the latest features, including web serving and PictBridge connection. It has drivers to the most popular devices, including EtherNet/IP, Modbus and most brands of PLC.

All units come with an ethernet port standard, USB host and client ports and two serial ports: one RS232, the other selectable between RS232/422/485. A CompactFlash memory card slot is provided for program transfers and data logging facilities. A video card can be installed in the NS15 to allow it to be used as a video monitor for multiple cameras.

The aspect ratio of the NS15 is the industry standard 4:3. Despite providing more pixels, existing programs can be converted over, with all objects being scaled for the larger screen size. All programs across the NS range are compatible.

The NS15 can run for 50,000 h before its brightness is reduced to half. An external brightness control can be installed for applications that require it.
