Penny+Giles JC1500 12-bit programmable joystick

Penny+Giles JC1500 is a robust, hand-operated, 12-bit, programmable joystick based on Hall-effect technology designed for single-axis operator control of cranes, aerial work platforms and other off-highway vehicle applications. The compact joystick comes with a range of user-defined features, enabling OEMs to quickly and efficiently build safe and reliable control systems.

The JC1500 joystick is designed with cast metal components to provide high strength and reliability. It can be supplied with a wide range of handle and grip styles to suit specific applications that may, for example, require the increased safety and functionality offered by finger-operated triggers, buttons and rockers.

To support customer-specific handle shapes or design requirements, the JC1500 is also available in a ‘no handle’ version with a plain operating lever provided for interfacing with the joystick handle or grip.

The JC1500 features a 12-bit programmable Hall-effect sensing system with dual outputs. The joystick lever’s sensor is embedded at the pivot mechanism to ensure maximum output sensitivity over the full lever travel.

Power requirements are a 5 VDC regulated or a 9-30 VDC unregulated power supply, and the unit has overvoltage protection to 40 VDC with reverse polarity protection. Dual outputs are provided, with independent output ramps (same or opposed), and analog (0.5 to 4.5 VDC) or digital (PWM) signalling.

The operating temperature range of the JC1500 is -40 to +85°C at 5 VDC and the unit has an environmental protection rating of IP69K above the mounting panel.
