The Piab Vactrap is a check valve which is also equipped with a built-in blow-off valve to provide quick release of an object. It is also available in a special version in which the vacuum pump and blow-off connections are interconnected (x-drilled), making it suitable for ejectors with an integrated blow-off valve, such as Piab’s AVM models.
The Vactrap can be used in an existing centralised vacuum system with external blow-off possibilities and it is also possible to get the Vactrap with an integrated Pi12-2 COAX cartridge for decentralised vacuum systems.
The Piab Vactrap ‘traps’ the vacuum pressure in vacuum systems for an indefinite period of time in non-porous applications, such as when handling sheet metal or glass with suction cups. If the supply of compressed air should be cut off, if a pump failure should occur or if the emergency stop should be activated, the trapped vacuum prevents the object from being dropped, so the object can be handled with an extremely high degree of safety. The industry which will benefit the most from these products is the automotive industry but many industries where non-porous materials are handled can also benefit from the features of the Vactrap.
The Vactrap makes it possible to transport non-porous objects between various operations with no need of attachment to an energy source. The risk for injuries and material damages is reduced considerably since the Vactrap allows non-porous parts to be handled safely even in the case of system interruption or failure.
